Annina's Story (appears on the back of her cards)

On June 30, 2009, when Annina was 12-1/2 years old, she was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma, a rare cancer primarily found in adolescents and young adults. Soon after she started her eight-months of intensive treatment, including 18 rounds of chemotherapy and state-of-the-art limb-salvage surgery (for which she was mostly in the hospital at Kaiser Permanente), she decided she wanted to devote time to raising money for pediatric cancer awareness and research -- so others do not have to endure the treatment she has had.

Annina’s family found the KidsAreStars.com web site, which makes it easy to put Annina’s artwork and photography to “work” raising money for osteosarcoma research. KidsAreStars donates the proceeds from card sales to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
